Client: Darclay Constructions (Gorman’s Hill & Waratah Ave)/Hines Constructions (Browning St)
Scope of Works:
- AJS were contracted to do the electrical installation on 3 sites.
- Gorman’s Hill Road Bathurst – 6 x 2 bedroom units
- Browning Street Bathurst – 12 x 2 bedroom units
- Waratah Avenue Orange – 7 x 2 bedroom units
This work was carried out simultaneously with a gang of 3 electricians moving around the sites to keep up with construction. Work commenced January 2008 on the Gorman’s Hill site and handover of the last units at Browning street occurred just before Christmas 2008.
The work required new mains and main switchboards to each site. Each unit was separately metered from the main switchboard. Sub-mains were reticulated around each site to the various units. A small distribution board was installed in each unit. Lights and power as per the design were installed.
A feature of these sites was that each unit had a rainwater tank buried in the backyard. This is part of a new regulation requiring the rain water from each units roof becoming available from watering of lawns. This also assists when heavy downpours occur to minimise storm water flooding. Each unit had TV points which were reticulated and amplified through the roof space.
